(NEW YORK – Aug. 31, 2026) – On Saturday, Sept. 12, MS NOW will debut its newest weekend program, The Assignment with Antonia Hylton, airing Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. ET on MS NOW. Helmed by Murrow, Peabody and two-time Emmy Award-winning journalist and MS NOW reporter Antonia Hylton, The Assignment will bring Hylton's thoughtful, deeply reported journalism to MS NOW’s audience every weekend.
Based in New York, The Assignment with Antonia Hylton will serve as destination viewing for the latest political and cultural headlines, informative discussions and fresh insights from top lawmakers and changemakers. Centered around Hylton’s award-winning field reporting and rooted in her signature curiosity and accountability, the program will aim to help audiences better understand not only the latest headlines, but also the broader context behind them, while inviting them into a community that engages more deeply.
Hylton will bring the same deeply reported, people-first approach that has defined her work in the field to the anchor chair each weekend. Most recently, her enterprise reporting for MS NOW’s “Cities Under Siege” series examined the impact of the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement tactics on families and communities across the country, bringing viewers directly to the people at the center of the story. On The Assignment, Hylton will continue to take viewers beyond the headlines into how the biggest stories shaping the country are affecting people’s lives.
Before taking on her first solo anchoring role, Hylton frequently served as a fill-in anchor across the network’s morning, dayside and primetime programming. Hylton joined MS NOW in April 2025 as a reporter and co-anchor of The Weekend: Primetime as the news organization built its bench of first-rate journalists. Hylton received a Scripps Howard Award for Excellence in Radio/Podcast Coverage, a Peabody Award for Podcast/Radio and was a Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting finalist for her work on the podcast, “Southlake.” She also received an Edward R. Murrow Award for her work on the podcast “Grapevine,” and was named one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30” in 2020. In 2024, Hylton published the New York Times Best Seller MADNESS: Race and Insanity in a Jim Crow Asylum.
Hylton’s new program underscores MS NOW's continued investment in trusted journalism and original programming. MS NOW continues to build on its rapidly growing, award-winning newsgathering operation and multi-platform expansion, including a dedicated Washington Bureau, the MS NOW Membership and furthering MS NOW's offerings across digital, audio, live events and linear.
The MS NOW Membership launch supports VERSANT's ongoing strategy to deepen audience engagement, extend the reach of its brands and invest in long-term growth. The Membership will serve as an additive experience to MS NOW’s television and digital offerings, and build on the audience's connection with its reporters and anchors, like Hylton.
In June, MS NOW debuted several new titles across its morning, dayside and primetime programming slate, including Money, Power, Politics with Stephanie Ruhle, On the Line with Alicia Menendez, The Moment with Katy Tur, The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi and Connect with Jacob Soboroff, in addition to Symone Sanders Townsend and Michael Steele being joined by new co-anchor Luke Russert on The Weeknight. In July 2026, the first full month for these titles, all new programs delivered viewership increases among total viewers and the demo compared to the same month last year.
Since launching its new weekday lineup earlier this summer, MS NOW has continued to build momentum across television, digital, social, audio and more while expanding its roster of award-winning journalists. Last month, MS NOW ranked #2 among all cable networks and delivered its eighth consecutive month of year-over-year growth, underscoring the continued strength of the network’s programming and journalism.
