UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 20, 2025 – Oxygen, the home of high-quality, true-crime programming, has debuted the official trailer for Married to El Chapo: Emma Coronel Speaks. The two-hour documentary special is set to premiere on Friday, November 28th at 8pm ET/PT.
In Married to El Chapo: Emma Coronel Speaks, Emma Coronel Aispuro, wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, breaks her silence in an unprecedented, in-depth interview. From her humble beginnings growing up on a ranch in Durango to her life as a teenage beauty queen, she recounts unknowingly meeting the infamous Sinaloa Cartel kingpin at just 17 years old and falling in love with a man 32 years her senior.
The documentary explores events like El Chapo’s legendary escape through a mile-long tunnel on a motorcycle, as well as the impossible choices Coronel faced to protect her family, including her two young daughters with Guzmán. Living in a world ruled by power, violence, secrecy, and loyalty, Coronel reveals the reality of life beside a criminal mastermind and shares the truth behind one of the most fascinating love stories in the last two decades. Featuring perspectives from investigators, attorneys and journalists, audiences are left to question - was Coronel an innocent young woman seduced by El Chapo’s world or does her stoic composure suggest otherwise?
Married to El Chapo: Emma Coronel Speaks is produced by Maxine Productions, a part of Sony Pictures Television, in association with Hangtime International Pictures. Maxine founder Mary Robertson, Hangtime founder and co-CEO Frida Torresblanco, Ted Bourne, Eric Laufer, Cameron Penn, and Noah Evans serve as executive producers, with Ted Bourne also serving as the film’s director.
